What Are Your Rights As A Father For Child Custody and Child Support?
Growing up we always wanted things to be fair and just. However, as we grew up we knew that the reality of the world is far from this ideal. This can really be the case when it comes to divorce and child custody issues.
However, there are laws out there to protect the interests of both the Mother and the Father. But you must be aware of these laws and how you can use them to your advantage to get what you are entitled to.
When the issue is in regards to child support this arrangement is made when one parent is the custodian of the child and the other parent is granted visitation rights. Sinee this is a legal arrangement both parties must abide by the judges decision. However, there are many cases where the Mother will withhold visitation from the Father. Oftentimes this will result in the father withholding child support as a form of retaliation. This however is the completely the wrong tactic to play. Withholding child support demonstrates to the court that you are in contempt of its ruling and such actions most likely will result in you serving jail time. Obviously this is not the outcome you want. It is far better if you can settle the matter through the proper legal channels.
Most of the time it is advantageous to hire a mediator if both parties are finding the previously arranged settlement unsatisfactory. The court system will look upon you both favorably if you try to settle your dispute out of the system.
Fighting for your rights does not have to be a lone battle. There are resources out there but you must be willing to use them.
